Intro to Art MW 7:00
High Museum visit
1. My favorite work of art was “Autumn on the Seine, Argenteuil” by Claude Monet because I love the way Monet paints. I love the colors he uses and the way he strokes his paint brush. His work is always different than everyone else’s.
2. A work of art that I liked but would not take home was “Farm Yard” by Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps because the piece has beautiful colors and background but there are many people in the picture and I do not want paintings of other people in my house.
3. A work of art that taught me something that I did not know was “Untitled” 1985 by Martin Puryear. This taught me that there are many types of works that can be considered art. This piece was very unique and very big. It was a part of the contemporary section and was different than everything else. I learned that almost anything can be considered art!
4. A work of art that felt sad to me was “Moonlight Millsat PontAven” by Gaines Ruger Donolro. This painting was all blue. I have learned from the art class that the color blue demonstrates sadness. This artist created this sad painting with all blue using value. It is monochromatic.
5. A work of art that identifies a historic moment was “Jiangheng Cun, Shanzi Province” by Sze Tsung Leong. This is of villages and structures showing the destruction of the communist campaign. It was a part of the contemporary.
6. A work of art that reminded me of someone in my life was “E Shelton Inn” by unknown. I had neighbors growing up with the last name Shelton. There is a sign in the painting that says “Shelton.” The people are riding horses in the painting just as my neighbors did.
7. I could not pick one pience of art that shocked me. The entire museum was filled with shocking art. American art had many paintings of African Americans working and folk art had many bright colors and many pieces that some people may not consider art.
8. The Folk art and contemporary art gallery was much more bright and bigger than the rest of the museum. There was also I a lot of empty space in the middle of the room compared to the rest of the museum. There were fewer pictures of realistic objects and of people. It was much more abstract!
9. My favorite part of the museum was the Folk art gallery because the pieces were much more interesting to look at. I also like the outside of the museum and the exhibit they had of the Terracotta army. I liked the way the museum was set up and the way you had to walk up to each exhibit.

The sculpture by Auguste Robin is called “The Shade.” The sculpture is owned by the High Museum because it was a gift from the French government to Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center, formerly Atlanta Art Association in memory of the 122 Atlanta Association members who lost their lives in a plane crash on June 3, 1962.

I'm Having Another Catharsis
">
A combination of this song and the pictures shown make me cry. This video is very emotional just with the pictures of the soldiers over seas fighting in war. My brother was on the very first ship in Afghanistan in 2001 and I am very thankful he came home safely.

This Music Video is a True Work of Art

I think this music video is a work of art because the three women are working together to make rythm and dance. Dance is very much so art and the women are all dancing in sync. They are moving to the beat which make their dance even better art!

I'm having a Catharsis

This song is Skin by Rascal Flatts. I'm having a catharsis because this song reminds my of my cousin who passed away of childhood cancer. It really provokes many emotions. My cousin was six months older than me and died when she was 12 years old. Every time i hear this song my eyes start to tear up.

Why I believe this film is a work of art.
I believe the film Titanic is a true work of art. There are many elements of art all throughout the movie. The main character loves art and owns many paintings. The special effects in this movie are great and the music really touches my heart. The pictures of the ship from a far are true pieces of art. I love this movie!

This is a very unique way of art! This person took an ordinary every day used item and turned it into something meaningful and beautiful! I think this art is amazing!

On the Graffiti Beat
I found this graffiti driving to Phenix City, Alabama. I was stopped at a red light and was looking around and saw the graffiti on a 18 wheeler truck. I believe this is a form of art because it is a way someone can express themselves. Art is the process of arranging elements in a way that appeals to emotions. This graffiti catches a persons eye who is just driving by it. Therefore, yes graffiti is art!

Poetry slam is a contest for poets. This is a video of one of the contestants. I love poetry because each person can be unique. Everyone has their own experiences to reflect on and it is beautiful in its own way.

I love this piece of Architecure

I have shown this to many people and most can see her going both directions. I can only see her spinning clockwise and cannot see her spinning counter clockwise at all! What can you see?

Responses to Diorama
Both the drunk driving and the abortion dioramas evoked an emotion of sadness because these things happen everyday and it is very sad to think about.
All of the dioramas taught me that all the students have very interesting and strong opinions about many different issues. It makes me feel good to know that students are worried about those issues.
The reproduction of dogs was the most creavtive of all the dioramas in my opinion.
There were many dioramas that I did not understand. Many people just put random objects in a box with no theme.
There was one diorama with many items that were materialistic. I believed this one could be propagnda.
Overall I thought all the diaramas were really cool!

Diorama
The name of my diorama is "The Red, White, and Blue". The theme of my diorama is Nationalism in country music. I chose this theme because the inauguration just took place and history was made when President Obama was sworn in. After this event many people are really supporting the country. I used a picture of Toby Keith because he has many songs that have to do with the United States of America and he preformed at the events leading up to the inauguration.
